For nearly 40 years Charles worked in the media industry as Editor and, subsequently, publishing director of a group of business-to-business magazines. Titles ranged widely from those focusing on the financial sector to others dealing with food production and perfumery.

Since retiring, he is able to devote more time to local interest groups as well as pursuing hobbies such as gardening and photography.
