DitIt! Competition

The ‘Dig It!’ competition is run for CBA’s Young Archaeologist’s Club (YAC) members. The YAC is the only UK-wide club where 8–16 year olds can participate in real archaeology. There are over 70 groups across the country, involving around 2,000 young people from a wide variety of backgrounds who take part in archaeology and heritage-based activities. These activities are run by volunteers who give their time to share their knowledge and expertise with young people who are interested in archaeology.

For the competition, YAC choose a number of sites across the UK to partner with, which include a mixture of modern sites and prehistoric sites. Members of YAC then have the opportunity to submit an application to join the dig at their chosen specific site. The winners of the competition are then chosen at random to make the process as fair as possible.

Every member contributes a DigIt! diary, sharing their experiences and reflections from their time on the dig. You can read them via the links below.
