Stephanie McKinlay

Stephanie has had a number of roles with Barnardo’s, including as a House to House collection volunteer in the 1980s, where she gathered donations to sell at Barnardo’s stores. She took over the organisation of this project in 1988 and doubled its income in 2 years. She also served as County Chairman for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight in 1991, setting up a Winchester Group when she realised that one didn’t currently exist. Stephanie is now the only founding member remaining on the committee and has supported them to raise over £280,000. She aims to generate regular and reliable income, organising a range of popular events including Quiz Nits, Garden Parties and Music Evenings. In 1995, Stephanie also became Regional Chairman for Southern England and has worked closely with senior Barnardo’s staff and Council members over the years, many of whom have supported her group’s events. Despite now being in her 80s, she is still an extremely active committee member and last year organised an Afternoon Tea in her own garden.
