Royal Anthropological Institute

The Royal Anthropological Institute is the world’s longest-established scholarly association dedicated to the furtherance of anthropology (the study of humankind) in its broadest and most inclusive sense.

Anthropology is an important discipline which enables us to better understand our world and address the problems we are facing. It tells us why we act the way we do and how this can affect our physical, cultural, social, and political environments.

Anthropology has been applied to a broad range of work both within and outside of the academic sphere. Whether it is through working in areas of conflict, understanding places of cultural diversity or seeking to make improvements to public institutions, winners of our Awards with the Royal Anthropological Institute strive to make a difference through the use of anthropology.
