Sara Oldfield


Sara was the Secretary General of Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI), with whom the MCT runs an Award partnership for International Plant Conservation, from May 2005 until February 2015. Sara currently works as a Biodiversity Consultant with a particular interest in the conservation of rare and threatened plant species worldwide, and is Group Secretary and Chair of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Sara was previously Global Programmes Director with Fauna and Flora International, and has also worked with Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Sara became an Ambassador for the MCT in November 2015, after presenting the Marsh Award for Horticultural Science, run in partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society. She has since presented many other Awards on the MCT’s behalf.
