BAFM Reading Conference

The British Association of Friends of Museums

20 March, 2024

The British Association of Friends of Museums (BAFM) is the national body which supports Friends Groups associated with both national and regional museums, galleries, and heritage sites. They provide advice, fundraising support, and resources to these volunteer-led groups, to help them with their activities and make them as effective as possible. Friends’ organisations, member organisations, volunteers, and other support groups give their time, energy and expertise to help museums and heritage organisations to prosper, for public benefit.

This year, the Marsh Charitable Trust has begun a new partnership with BAFM that aims to recognise the hard work and dedication of Friends Groups volunteering in museums, galleries, or heritage sites  across the UK.

The ‘BAFM Friends Group of the Year Award’ has been established to celebrate volunteers who have taken the initiative to create, organise, and deliver activities that support museums and heritage. Nominations can be made by Friends Groups themselves, or by the museum or site that they support. Eligible Friends Groups that are nominated can be of any size, and the work recognised can be from the last 12 months or longer.  Nominate here: https://www.bafm.co.uk/current-awards/

The call for nominations for the BAFM Friends Group of the Year Award is now open! To nominate a Friends Group, please visit the BAFM website and complete the application form. Make sure to include the exceptional work that the Group has delivered for their museum, gallery or heritage site!

The nominations for this Award close on Monday 1st July 2024. The Award winners will be announced at the BAFM Conference and AGM later in the year.
