FoodCycle

FoodCycle tackles food poverty, loneliness and food waste by providing meals for vulnerable people on a weekly basis using surplus food donations. They were established in 2009 and run projects which are embedded in the community and are reliant on volunteers to prepare the meals and serve the guests.

FoodCycle volunteers collect food donations from supermarkets and cook a three course meal for vulnerable guests, which is served restaurant style to encourage people to eat together and also to help the guests feel special. While at the projects, guests can also be signposted to other services which can provide them with further support if required, such as homelessness support organisations.

Currently, FoodCycle have over 4,700 active volunteers and around 15,000 signed up to their database who volunteer when they are able to.
