British Ecological Society

The British Ecological Society is the oldest ecological society in the world, striving to generate, communicate and promote ecological knowledge and solutions among established and aspiring ecologists worldwide.

Ecology helps us understand how the world works. It provides useful evidence on the interdependence between people and the natural world and, as well the consequences of human activity on the environment.

The British Ecological Society has 6,000 members around the world and brings people together across regional, national and global scales to advance ecological science. Our Awards are a way of promoting a range of ecologists whose work has benefited the scientific community and society in general.
