2024 Award Partner Anniversaries
24 January, 2024The MCT now run over 100 Awards with 42 partner organisations, which we hope will result in longstanding partnerships. We are pleased to be able to share below some Award anniversaries that we will be celebrating this year.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of our partnership with Butterfly Conservation. This partnership is one of our longest, and we have recently changed the focus of the Awards to recognise their volunteers.
Another of our long-standing Award partnerships is with Fauna and Flora International, who we have run the Marsh Award for Conservation Leadership with for 15 years . In recent years, we have introduced some other Awards in this partnership to celebrate conservation in biodiversity globally.
We are celebrating a number of 10-year anniversaries this year, including with Botanic Gardens Conservation International. These Awards include the Marsh Award for International Plant Conservation, and the Marsh Award for Education in Botanic Gardens, which recognise professionals and their achievements in the botanic field.
The Mind Peer Support Awards have also been running for 10 years. These Awards have developed over the past decade and now recognise a range of peer support groups across a number of categories that support those experiencing mental health struggles.
Our 10-year partnership with the Royal Anthropological Institute began with the Marsh Award for Anthropology in the World, which we still run today. This Award recognises individuals who have applied anthropology to encourage a better understanding of our world.
The Wildlife Trusts have been in partnership with us for 10 years, and these Awards originally focused on recognising conservation volunteers who make an outstanding contribution to marine life in their local area.
As the relationships grow with our partners, so do their Awards Schemes. Each of our partnerships is unique and is developed to highlight the organisation’s values, in turn meaning that each of our partnerships change in different ways, at different times. As the partnerships grow, we occasionally add more Awards to help to broaden the range of people that the Awards recognise. The following Awards anniversaries are for individual Awards within our Award partnerships.
We have been partnered with the British Ecological Society since 1996, and this year is the 15th anniversary of the Marsh Award for Climate Change Research, which highlights ecologists around the world who have made an outstanding contribution to climate change research.
The Zoological Society of London is our longest standing Awards partner, beginning in 1991. Over these years several more Awards have been added to the Scheme, and this year is the 15th anniversary of the Charles Darwin Award and Marsh Prize. This Award recognises the best zoological project by a undergraduate student attending university.
We will be celebrating 2 Award anniversaries with Barnardo’s this year. The Marsh Young Retail Volunteer of the Year has been running for 10 years and the Marsh Award for Volunteer Team of the Year for 5 years.
The Rare Breeds Survival Trust has been partnered with us since 1996, and this year is the 10th anniversary of our most recently added Award with the organisation. The Marsh Support Group Volunteer of Year Award recognises support group volunteers who help promote rare breeds throughout the UK, put on shows and raise funds for events.
The MCT is grateful for all of our Award partnerships, and we are always looking for new ways to recognise the achievements of people’s dedication to their cause. Please visit our Partners page that includes all of our Award partners and the Awards that we run with each organisation.
